Multicom and HitchHiker announce new collaboration

The UK’s market leading travel technology specialist Multicom is joining forces with well-established German flight technology provider HitchHiker to share content and expertise across their respective core businesses. The deal will see the two companies cooperate in three key areas – content aggregation, exploring synergies in payment processing and data caching. The move, designed to save time and costs while avoiding the redundant developments associated with integration and maintenance of third party content, will provide almost immediate bottom line benefits to both Multicom and HitchHiker customers.

Multicom Managing Director John Howell said: “This is an ideal fit for both ourselves and HitchHiker and we’re delighted to have been able to reach this agreement that will deliver real benefits for our customers. The arrangement will also provide Multicom with the platform to expand its reach into new markets for MultiCommerce while providing the HitchHiker Flight API respectively the HitchHiker Travel Market Place with a greater variety of bookable ground services, cruise and flight content available from FindandBook.”

MultiCommerce, which supports secure payment for numerous international credit cards and virtual debit cards, will soon be available as a fully integrated payment solution in HitchHiker Flight API, HitchHiker.Agent and HitchHiker.Consumer applications.

The aggregation of their respective individual content will see Multicom and HitchHiker customers benefit from over 90 high-quality direct airline connections including all major low-cost carriers as well as a host of specialist airlines. The two businesses have developed a uniform data cache format for low-cost airline content, a crucial requirement for quick search results that will offer greater value to customers.

HitchHiker Managing Director Thomas Boffo added: “There are huge benefits to both of our businesses but crucially all of our respective customers as a result of this collaboration. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship between HitchHiker and Multicom and the exciting prospects it presents us both.”
